Introduction
Research Institute of Social Enterprise (RISE) a fresh-born academic organization subordinating itself to College of Business, Feng Chia University in Taichung. It is transformed from the Credit Union Research Center (CURC) grounded by some scholars interesting in non-profit monetary organization. RISE is therefore organized by scholars, across departments at the College (such as department of economics, cooperative economics, statistics, accounting, insurance, business administration and public administration), who have researched on the fields i.e., (monetary) Credit Union and other mutual-aided and mutual-benefit local micro-scale enterprises as main objects. Now, RISE is recognized through Taiwanese government as only entry into nonprofit research in middle Taiwan.
Of them now the key themes are around working out a monitoring and evaluation system, exploring social network and social capital, mapping information flows, understanding loan and credit formation and comparing global credit union systems - their circumstances, different models of managing and operating etc. Besides, we are implementing a plan about fulfilling a data bank for such organization and offering relevant consultations. The running projects stem from National Science Council, Ministry for Interior Affair, Council of Aboriginal Affair, Council of Agriculture and National Youth Commission, etc..
The new web version will keep the public posted on our latest happenings. Parallel to RISE, MBA for non-profit and cooperative organization is linked to the institute, which is authorized to certificate a master degree (Please see the website of College of Business).
