Program of Nonprofit Management(PNPM)
History and present status
To respond the current rising of nonprofit sector in Taiwanese society and the flourished international non-governmental movement, College of Business (COB) of Feng-Chia University (FCU) has started in 2003 the Bachelor Program of Nonprofit Management (PNPM). The program as cross-specialist design coordinates the pedagogic resource of entire College of Business consisting of nine departments to offer the students adequate training in framework of specific management skills required by managing a NPO. Besides, the PNPM is backed through Research Institute of Social Enterprise (RISE) in COB. Hand-in-hand with Department of Cooperative Economics (DCE), PNPM, RISE and DCE built themselves as an academic trio construct for non-for-profit sector.
Goal
PNPM is set up in the purpose of promoting the human resource for Taiwanese nonprofits. Since RISE has right now very good relation with one of the most powerful INGO like WOCCU (World Council of Credit Union), foreign students, especially the ones from Asian countries will touch the core skills of the modern nonprofit governance. Financial, human, organizational, voluntary, marketing networking, accounting management etc. in the sense of non-for-profit will be deepened here to grasp the governing skills. In Taiwanese milieu, foreign students can also learn to live and grow with the development and specialty of Taiwanese NPOs personally.
Feature
Since management skills and philosophic baseline of nonprofit are in PNPM the only required, they characterized also the features of this program. That is, the other academic sectors around nonprofits like social work accompanying with direct service delivering, juridical circumstances of NPOs, public choice of social policies are not, if nearly not, the focus. But since RISE and DCE have very good relation with the civil corporation, PNPM offers students opportunity of practice continuously cooperating with some NPOs such as one of the most famous NPOs – CCF or Culroc in Taiwan. It means also, PNPM dedicates itself not just to theoretical arguments but also to practicing experience, acts its part not just in the philanthropic (CCF) but also in the mutual-benefic (Culroc) sector.
